$800,000 Class Action Settlement Granted Preliminary Approval in Ramirez v. Kuldeep Singh Mand
On October 31, 2025, the El Dorado County Superior Court granted preliminary approval of a $800,000 class and representative (“PAGA”) action settlement in Ramirez, et al. v. Kuldeep Singh Mand (Case No. 23CV0691).
The settlement is on behalf of approximately 55 current and former hourly, non-exempt employees who worked for Kuldeep Singh Mand at his hotels in El Dorado County, California, at any time from May 5, 2019 through October 31, 2025.
The lawsuit alleges violations of California wage-and-hour law, including failure to pay all wages and overtime, failure to provide compliant meal and rest breaks or pay premiums, failure to provide accurate wage statements and timely final wages, failure to reimburse necessary business expenses, unfair competition, and civil penalties under the Private Attorneys General Act (“PAGA”). Defendants deny Plaintiffs’ allegations and deny they did anything wrong.
A Final Approval Hearing is scheduled for January 23, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 4 of the El Dorado County Superior Court, located at 1354 Johnson Blvd., South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150.
